Apologies to My Readers
Big apologies to my dedicated readers for not blogging this month, other than one small mention in a cake post.
Without going into great detail, there have been some hiccups this month, and I am guilty of biting off more than I can chew. Lesson learned, and I will be back in a week - dedicating November to some good, useful content!
At least you know I'm a real person ![]()

Fall Into The New Season

Today is the beginning of the fall equinox. We begin our descent into Winter and re-adjust to less daylight - (okay, technically that has been happening since the Summer equinox, for all you puritans out there). If you have had the pleasure of becoming married this summer, you may be nesting your new home, or transitioning into your new life as a couple. Or perhaps you are to be married next year, and you are at the beginning of your planning...
For me, autumn is a time for reflecting, re-focusing and at times, it feels like the natural time to re-group.
Whatever the case may be, enjoy the oranges, reds, crimsons and rusts as they surround you along your path.
Happy July 4th USA!

Happy Birthday to our neighbours to the South!
Some of my closest friends live south of the 49th and I love your country. I have travelled to numerous states and most recently, I had the opportunity to drive from Vancouver to Nashville. Through the Western states to Vegas, then down to Flagstaff and across on Route 66 (with a stop at the Grand Canyon), to our final destination of Nashville. Over 3400 miles in a rental car, my husband and I zoomed our way on highways and byways - we nicknamed our journey "Bourbon & Banjoes".
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CANADA

Today marks the 142nd birthday of Canada. Born and raised in Vancouver, I am a Canuck through and through - although sometimes I do prefer a Krispy Kreme or a Tim Hortons, I have never been so happy to be a Canadian. We may not be perfect, but I thank the universe for giving myself and my family the best country to live in. I love everything about this place: mountains, fresh air, ample water, GST, PST, and mostly freedom for everyone who lives here.
So Thank You, Canada.
Thank you for everything.
Summer Solstice

Today is the longest day of the year and we celebrate the first day of summer!
Happy Summer to all the Brides and Grooms out there - may your days be filled with sunshine, blue skies and walks along the beach.
(I know, cheesy sentiments, but true!) Oh - and don't forget the sunscreen.
Happy Father's Day!

for tomorrow......Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there. This is a picture of a Christmas when I received a Fisher Price Camper and was just beside myself that Santa actually got it right! The non-matching pants and shirt my Dad is wearing is super stellar and was most likely all the rage back then.
Being from a sailing family, when I was married my Dad rowed me across the lake to the Ceremony. He wore his aged Captain's hat and although the wooden dinghy was leaking slowly, he still took his time and paraded me along in front of the neighbours' docks. He loved his special moment that day, and when Mom met us on the dock to "walk me down the aisle" (up the dock stairs and across the lawn), everything was complete.
Dad, wherever you are I know you are with me when I need you the most. You are missed daily and I thank you for all you taught me in our time together - fun, humor, nonsense, how to enjoy life and the importance of family.
